Skill Details:
Advanced Beginner - Intermediate
Requirements:
Only two fabrics are used in the quilt! Create a beautiful bargello quilt with just an ombre (color gradation) fabric and a contrasting fabric.

Supplies:
Two Fabric Bargello pattern
Long ruler
Rotary cutter
Straight pins
Small square/rectangle ruler (3" or so)
Measuring tape
Spray Starch
Sewing machine with 1/4" presser foot
Even feed presser foot if you have one
Matching/blending thread
Basic sewing supplies - scissors, thread snips, seam ripper etc.
Sack lunch

Fabric:
1 3/4 yds ombre fabric (consistent color along selvages)
1 3/4 yds secondary fabric (middle design and border)
1/2 yard binding fabric
The stripes-of-colors of the ombre need to run lengthwise of the fabric. This means that the ombre has the same color/value down the selvage. The same color/value doesn't have to be down both selvages: one selvage can be one color/value and the other selvage can be a different color/value. Both selvages will be against the secondary fabric so whatever is chosen will need to work with both selvage colors.

Prior to class:
Wash and dry fabrics.
Clip cut ends of fabrics about 1/2" from the edge of selvages. Tear selvages off.
Heavily spray starch on the wrong sides of both fabrics. Let set three or four minutes. Press fabrics with a hot, dry iron moving iron lengthwise (parallel to selvages) of the fabric not side-to-side (that will stretch and distort fabrics). Spray and iron a second time if needed to get a crisp finish on fabrics.
